What an outstanding piece this is! It is a fine example of a very rare collar tab — both because Gauleiter tabs, in general, are extremely hard to come by, and because the insignia is in gilt metal rather than the standard hand-embroidered bullion.
This rank was the highest position within the Gauleitung, and during the war, the number of Gauleiters is estimated to have been around 62.
The tab is in quite good condition, with the two large gilt oak leaves joined at the bottom, mounted on the bright red velvet tab.
