 | | The Gaur, or Indian Bison, inhabits evergreen and deciduous forested hills and associated grassy clearings up to 1,800m, eastwards from India, Nepal and Bhutan to Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam, southern China and the Malay Peninsula. |
 | | Primarily a grazer, the Gaur prefers green grass but in its absence will take coarse dry grass, herbs, and the leaves of some trees and creepers. |
 | | It is adapted to a wide range of habitats, from tropical rain forest, evergreen forest and mangrove swamp to grassland, savanna and rocky country. |
