Whittaker led by a 4-3 score and, with Willich scrambling to get a takedown, Whittaker got the winning edge in the scramble by getting the takedown himself with eight seconds left.
Whittaker recovered quickly from a Willich takedown to trail 3-2 in the second period, but he quickly worked through it to get an escape to tie the score.
