Gay bar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
One of the oldest gay bars was the White Swan, on Vere Street, in London, which in 1810 was raided (called the Vere Street Coterie), leading to two executions for the then crime of sodomy, and which was frequently the scene of gay marriages carried out by the Reverend John Church [1].
Gay bars and nightclubs are often segregated by sex, though this is more common in some places than others, and people of the "wrong" sex may be unwelcome or even barred from entry.
Gay bars are often welcoming of transgender people, and drag shows are a common feature in many gay bars.

It has been claimed that "gay" was derived as an acronym for "Good As You", but this is a fake etymology based on a backronym.

Nightclub - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nightclubs are always associated with music and have a dance floor, however small: a drinking establishment without music is a saloon or bar, pub or tavern.
Though a nightclub may have a floor show or other entertainment unsuitable for minors, the music, dancing and socializing of a nightclub are secondary in a "strip joint".
Also, restaurants or supper clubs may provide music and entertainment simlar to that provided by a nightclub, the main difference being that food is the main attraction at these establishments, whereas entertainment is the main attraction at a nightclub.

Gay culture is widely acknowledged for being on the cutting-edge of fashion trends, art appreciation and any of the performing arts.
The usual Gay Pride rhetoric was spilling from the stage at the post-parade rally: gay is good; gay people are your brothers and sisters; each and every member of the gay community cares about each and every member of the gay community; it's all about love and caring and respect.
Gay Pride is, simply, one time each year when the very wide, very broad, very diverse gay and lesbian population--our "community," to use a word Savage dislikes--gathers together to enjoy the heady feeling of being in the majority.
