  Wladislaus II of Poland
Previously rulers from this dynasty, called Gediminaiciai, were grand princes of Lithuania, and after the Krewo Union, Jogaila adopted both titles (Supreme duke of Lithuania and King of Poland).
However, both titles, if separate, were used to be held by members of same Gediminaiciai dynasty who were related to each other in close family ties.
Before that the Piasts were monarchs of Poland, in last century intermitting with the Bohemian Przemysls and followed by a brief period of Angevins.

In the 12th century and 13th century it was a centre of the early medvieval Principality of Druck, ruled by the princes from Polatsk branch of Rurik dynasty.
Then it was taken over by Gediminaiciai dynasty of Lithuania and subsequently became part of Great Duchy of Lithuania and later of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
The town is also the name-sake of the Drucki-Lubecki Polish noble family and the name-sake for their coat of arms, the Druck Coat of Arms.

In 1562 the duke of Sweden, future King John III, married the sister of Lithuania-Poland King Zygimantas Augustas and thus Gediminaiciai dynasty intermarried with Vases.
During the North wars (1625-60) Denmark as Sweden’s rival mostly was the ally of LGP.

On the 22d of September, 1996 the ceremonious unveiling of the bronze figure of the Vilnius founder Grand Duke Gediminas took place on the Vilnius Cathedral Square.
Gediminas started the renowned Gediminaiciai dynasty, whose representatives became members of many European monarchies and had great influence on Lithuanian and European history.
Gediminas ruled the country from 1316 to 1341.

 Dynastic Relations of the Sovereign Houses of Habsburg and Jagiellon
This house was the descendants of Vladislaus Jagiello, Grand Duke of Lithuania (1377-1401), who became King of Poland, marrying Jadvyga, the only daughter of the last King of Poland of the Andegawen dynasty (1386).
In Lithuanian historiography this house is known as Gediminaiciai that is the descendants of Gediminas (c.1275-1341), grandfather of Jagiello and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1316-1341).
However, the only branch of this dynasty that retained its sovereign status were Jagiello’s descendants that became known in Poland as the Jagiellons.

Also in the first period - GDL was cemented from inside - created a ruling mechanism, rules how to gather army and so - all such things dind't happened in one short time.
After Vytautas, and the end of Gediminaiciai and the start of Jogailaicia dynasty - GDL changed too - it was loosing it's strenght.
So the second period was something there GDL lost about 33% of it's lands (well it took more than 100 years to loos them, but that was hapening)...

It is just very interesting how the history is taught in different countries, which facts are emphasized etc.
Lithuanian Gediminaiciai dynasty - I think it is only known in Lithuania by this name, elsewhere it goes by the name Jagiellonian dynasty (after Jogaila better known as Jagiello).
Jonas Karolis Chodkevicius would be probably most surprised to hear or see his name written or spoken in this form.
