 The South Western Railway Society - Birregurra Station
It was therefore decided to petition the minister of railways to have the station located on the vacant piece of crown land at the rear of the national bank.
Railway Construction Act 1884, a line from Mount Moriac to the forest (eleven miles) was authorised; another from Birregurra to the Cape Otway forest (twenty miles); and a third from Ondit road to Beeac, a distance of eight miles: these lines are now in course of construction.
The natural result of the station site being situated at the west end of the township, was to greatly enhance the value of property in its vicinity, and from that time forward it has continued to increase in value every year.

Flinders Street Station has emerged as a symbol of Victoria's capital city and is an institution in the daily routine of nearly a quarter of a million people.
The Victorian Railways Institute was granted space within the new building and room was eventually found for a nursery.

The State Electricity Commission of Victoria, the former State-owned electricity generator and distributor acquired the tramway systems at Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong as part of the acquisition of privately-owned electricity companies in a number of centres.
They were photographed on the Quarry Hill route, near the Bendigo railway station.
Bendigo Birney tram numbers 11 and 28 were photographed on a Tramway Museum Society of Victoria tour in the late 1960's when the four Bendigo Birney trams were hired for a special tour.

R766 was on static display in a park near Bendigo Railway station before it was returned to service firstly as a coal burner.
They were built at the Victorian Railway's Newport workshops Melbourne between 1928-33 and were streamlined between 1936-38 to haul the new train.
This one survived longer than the others and is consequently preserved at the Railway museum Williamstown Victoria.

After the WHITBURN family settled in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, Mabel attended school at Matthew Flinders School, Myers Street, Geelong, with her brothers, (the school being co-ed at that time) then at Newtown State School, Aberdeen Street, both being within short walking distance of their homes (this was approximately 1912/1913).
The London and South Western railway arrived in 1849 and by the 1870's the suburban railway explosion signalled the final abandonment of Chiswick mansions, the destruction of its gardens, and the rapid building of estates that were to house generations of commuters.
