Gefion ("giver") is an old-Scandinavian vegetation and fertility goddess, especially connected with the plough.
She is married to King Skjold or Scyld ¹ a son of Odin, and lived in Leire, Denmark, where she had a sanctuary.
Gefion could be another form of Frigg who is also known under that name.

The Gefion Fountain is in Churchillparken, at the end of Amaliegade.
The huge, dynamic sculpture, revealed in 1908, was created by Anders Bundgård. The story behind the fountain originates from Norse mythology, by which the Swedish king Gylfe offered the goddess Gefion as much land in Sweden as she was able to plough during one day and one night.
