The fountain depicts the mythical story of the creation of the island of Zealand on which Copenhagen is located.
Supposedly the Swedish king had promised Gefyon, a norse goddess, the territory she could plow in a night.
She turned her four sons into oxen, and the territory they plowed out of the earth was then thrown into the sea between Sweden and the island of Fyn in Denmark.
However, the Vanirfreya would have become an Aesir by marrying Odin.
Moreover, Gefyon, who some claim was a synonym for Freya was both an Aesir and a Vanir.
Freya is wild: free with her sexual favours and furious when an attempt is made to marry her off against her will; she is the mistress of Odin and several other gods and men and according to Loki, in Lokasenna, she even let her brother Frey into her bed.
