Emil Colerus von Geldern was born at Laibach on the 31st of December 1856.
On the 9th of April 1900 Emil Colerus von Geldern was appointed as chief of the general staff at the headquarter of the 7th corps at Temesvár where he received his promotion to Oberst on the 1st of May with seniority from the 3rd of June 1900.
Following the wind down of the inconclusive 2nd Carpathian offensive GdI Colerus von Geldern was relieved of his command after the Russians broke into the positions of his 28th infantry division at the boundary of 2nd and 3rd Armies and sent on an extended leave at the end of March 1915.
