Genders are divided as naturalized sexes in order to make them complementary agents of the Nation; they negotiate between the spheres of History and reproduction, Nation and survival, battlefield and shelter, public glory and private survival, and so forth.
The character of gender relations and the position of women in this global situation of disempowerment is, as expected, the intensification of the gender dichotomy and the nationalist restructuring of the patriarchy, the ‘‘naturalization’’ of women as breeders for the purposes of the Nation, and the ideologization of femininity in Serbia.
This gender egalitarianism is, in fact, the result of one other equality — the equality of powerlessness under despotism.

Whilst 'egalitarianism' is a multifaceted notion in social and political thought, common forms of egalitarianism include economic egalitarianism, moral egalitarianism, legal egalitarianism, democratic egalitarianism, political egalitarianism, gender egalitarianism and opportunity egalitarianism [19].
Economic egalitarianism, (popular with liberals throughout much of the 20th Century), has given way to a concern not that everyone be strictly equal in material possession, but rather that everyone be equal in having enough material goods to effectively fulfill his or her native human capacities [19].
It is documented that an egalitarian distribution of wealth and income appears to imply a more cohesive, harmonious society and the level of income inequality may affect both a society's cohesiveness and its members' health [28].

Understanding and Collaboratively Treating Parental Alienation Syndrome by Richard A. Gardner
Richard A. Gardner, MD I believe that one factor operative in the burgeoning rate of child custody disputes has been the misguided gender egalitarianism of the guidelines used in recent years for courts when ruling in such disputes.
The recommended changes will still respect fathers' needs and rights and are in conformity with gender criteria that the courts are required to subscribe to when ruling in child-custody disputes.
This presumption, too, is essentially sex blind (satisfying thereby present-day demands for gender egalitarianism) because it allows for the possibility that a father's input may outweigh the mother's in the formative years, even though he starts at a genetic disadvantage.

An exception is Reiss (1980) who--based on his observations, library research, and consultation with knowledgeable professionals while on sabbatical in Sweden--theorized that sociocultural characteristics account for an egalitarian and tolerant perspective in sexual matters.
In addition, Reiss predicted that the trend observed in the 1970s toward increased gender egalitarianism and greater sexual permissiveness in Western societies would continue.
Reiss argues that three key factors contribute to Sweden's leadership with respect to general gender egalitarianism: Sweden's labor shortages during much of the 20th century (which encouraged the employment of women), less religiosity (which undermined gender segregated and nonegalitarian views), and a relative lack of militarism (which decreased male dominance).
