Gender, on the other hand, is a collection of socially useful information that is related to a person's sex or apparent sex.
Gender actually describes all the ways we use to figure out whether a person we're talking to is male, female, or something else entirely.
Gender is built up through a collection of social cues, or things we perceive about people when we see them, hear their voices, talk to them, or see pictures of them.

However, the bias is not as strong as a gender cue which effectively rules out pronominal reference to a potential antecedent differing in gender from a gender marked pronoun.
However, when such a gender contrast is lacking we argue the degree to which implicit consequentiality influences processing will be maximised as it provides a strong cue as to which character is referred to by the pronoun (Example 6).
When gender information which would otherwise have uniquely identified the pronominal antecedent is lacking, implicit consequentiality is a strong cue which the system employs to facilitate processing.

The role of motion-mediated structural information and dynamic cues for gender recognition from biological motion was explicitly addressed in a series of experiments conducted by Mather and Murdoch (1994).
Gender recognition appears to be a complex process with a holistic character that takes into consideration hints and cues that are distributed over the whole display and that are carried both by motion-mediated structural information and by pure dynamics.
Whereas the predominance of dynamic information over structural cues is in accordance with earlier work by Mather and Murdoch (1994), the dependence on viewpoint seems to contradict their results.

Surprisingly, however, subjects were faster to respond to targets that followed this intendedly neutral gender prime than to targets that followed a valid gender prime, both in lexical decision and in naming.
In this experiment, the responses after a neutral and a valid gender prime were equally fast, which supported a strategic interpretation of the earlier response time difference.
The original results had shown that people were faster to select the correct gender-marked definite article for some picture in a two-choice gender decision task if they had recently named the same picture in a definite article NP than if they had recently named it with a bare noun only.

Results indicated that a combination of positive regard followed by negative regard after noncompliance elicited the greatest patient satisfaction for both male and female providers.
These results suggest that gender stereotypes are not as prevalent in provider-patient communication as they may be in other communication contexts due the to relative power and status relationships between a provider and patient.
In addition, patients may prefer a negative reaction from the provider after admitting to noncompliance because it confirms their expectations and may be perceived as provider concern for the patient.

Grammatical gender systems are ultimately semantically based (Corbett 1991) in the sense that males and females (or in some languages animate and inanimate objects) are assigned to different gender categories.
Speakers of nglish, a —gender language (in which grammatical gender appears only on the 3rd person singular pronoun) often find it difficult to determine the gender of foreign nouns and acquire the gender systems of +gender languages.
Results indicate that Kindergarten children were more successful at correctly assigning gender when they heard a morpho-phonological cue that corresponded to the correct gender than when they only saw a semantic cue to grammatical gender (that is, when the picture could be characterized as "male" or "female").

Words that have a gender affiliation can be positive if you consider how you are using them and for what segment of the market you are targeting.
