One example cited by Geneina was the commission's last- second decision to allow NGO representatives into the poll stations, after stonewalling on the issue for weeks.
According to Geneina, the judges will continue to fight for these points until all their demands are met.

Rampant insecurity has led to the closure of roads out of El Geneina, the capital of the strife-torn Sudanese state of West Darfur, hindering the work of humanitarian agencies, aid workers said.
On 9 October, 18 military observers of the African Union Mission in Sudan were abducted southeast of the town of Tina, north of El Geneina.
On 18 September, the local source recounted, after a bandit was killed and another captured during the robbery of a civilian vehicle, 300 militias arrived in the centre of town to demand the hand-over of the captured man at El Geneina's police station, resulting in his release.

El Geneina is the capital of West Darfur state and a strategic center not far from Sudan’s western border with Chad.
One witness who travels among the markets of El Geneina reported an increased number of soldiers both of the Janjaweed militia and the government of Sudan in the markets.

After many months of isolation, finally the people living or displaced in the Southern area of Al Geneina and suffered from the attacks of the janjaweed, will have some response to their priority needs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Italian Cooperation) is actively supporting INTERSOS in the emergency phase: thanks to the Italian Cooperation we have managed to have the two humanitarian flights: the first on 18th August, the second on 24th August reached Al Geneina with their cargo of humanitarian aid.
All this will be distributed by INTERSOS in the area of intervention, to the population which is also benefiting of sanitation projects (construction of latrines and supply of drinkable water) and hygiene promotion campaigns, in cooperation with UNICEF and ECHO, with the aim to prevent the outburst of epidemics, such as E-Hepatitis.

 New Killings and Rapes in Western Sudan
At approximately 2 pm on Tuesday, May 4 (2004), two Massaleit men were gunned down and killed by militiamen in Geneina town, the capital of the Dar Massaleit region in Western Sudan.
The murders occurred while the United Nations investigative team was still present in the city, and when they investigated the incident, the government reportedly explained the incident by simply indicating that the two victims were SLA supporters.
Despite the fact that these girls were badly brutalized by sexual violence, doctors in the government hospitals at Geneina and Habeela refused to receive them for treatment, and they were sent back to the Noss camp east of Geneina near the destroyed village of Menmery.

The Massaleit Community in Exile has received very disturbing news that pro-government militia forces are now operating freely inside the major towns of Western Sudan and killing civilians right under the nose of the Sudanese army.
Both victims were internally-displaced persons, seeking refuge in Geneina town from the violence in the countryside.
On the same day as these killings, eight Massaleit girls who were victims of sexual violence arrived in Geneina from the area around the village of Drobta.
