Juan Francisco Velasco Alvarado (June 16, 1910– December 24, 1977) was a left-leaning Peruvian General who ruled Peru from 1968 to 1975 under the title of "President of the Revolutionary Government".
Velasco was born on June 16, 1910 in Piura, a city on Peru's north coast.
He was the son of Manuel José Velasco and Clara Luz Alvarado.

As part of Alvarado’s June 2004 sentence to 10 years probation on a charge of criminal solicitation of a minor, he was ordered not to access the Internet in any way, including possessing computer software that enabled online access.
After confirming Alvarado’s identity and that he was using software to access the Internet for long periods of time, investigators worked with the Bastrop County Supervision and Corrections Department and the Bastrop County District Attorney to obtain an arrest warrant for a probation violation.
Investigators contacted Alvarado’s New York probation officer on Aug. 9, and officers with the Queens Warrant Squad of the New York Police Department arrested him on Aug. 16.
