Telephone reporting and the CANPASS programs for general aviation result from the Canada/United States of America Accord on Our Shared Border designed to promote trade, tourism, and travel between the two countries.
General aviation aircraft must land at an approved AOE during the normal customs hours of business unless alternate arrangements have been made directly with the local office.
Depending on the circumstances, the flight may be cleared by telephone, the pilot and travellers may be requested to await the arrival of a customs officer, or the pilot may be requested to fly the travellers to the nearest AOE at the first opportunity.

The telephone companies entered into an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance (AVC) with DCP in August to remedy a problem brought to the Attorney General's attention by consumer complaints.
The complaints came from consumers who were not clearly informed on their telephone bills that they were being charged for the rental of a rotary telephone, either after its return or for a telephone they never had.
Customers who had previously returned their rotary telephones and were still being billed were eligible for refunds or bill credits for the amount paid in rental fees after the equipment was returned.

The lawyers know what their State law is governing telephone depositions and they have their own stipulations regarding the taking of the deposition.
