The alternative introduced by GEFONT was directed by the viewpoint that as the trade union movement was in itself a political movement, it should not be viewed as an ordinary club, and neither should it cross its limitation as the trade union movement was different from the movement of political parties.
On this issue, two distinct factions were seen inside trade union movement of Nepal, those who opposed the privatisation and those who held their peace, due to which workers and the workers’ movement could not use this as an issue for the movement.
It can only be a true trade union movement and play a major role in the social structure if it can broaden its horizon by involving the rural labour class within the movement and increasing their awareness, and raise voice for their interest.

The Jordanian labour movement / by Hani al-Hourani. - Part 4
This union is considered one of the oldest in Jordan, as it was established in 1954 by unionist Zaki al-Sheikh Yasin, one of the Labour leadership’s pioneers who contributed to the foundation of the General Federation of Labour Trade Unions.
The trade union is comprised of the Administrative Committee and the General Assembly.
Trade unions tied to high worker concentration in large and modern institutions are mostly capable of organizing successful demands-oriented struggles, while those based in Labour sectors scattered in large numbers of medium and small institutions are less capable of organizing demands-oriented struggles.

The Sofia trade union associations, which should have formed the basis of the trade unions, were in their early phase of stabilization, in a weak and insecure condition.
The trade unions will then be much better able to carryout a broad socialist propaganda, both oral and through the press, among the workers of their trade, than at present the different trade union associations and particularly the mixed ones.
Consequently, from the viewpoint of trade union organand the workers' trade union struggle, the necessity of establishing trade union is imperative.

 EMIRE: ITALY - TRADE UNION
The first to appear in the history of the labour movement was the craft union, widespread in Great Britain in the 19th century and also in the United States, and characterized by its capacity to regulate the employment relationship unilaterally.
Today, however, it exists in the form of "occupational trade unions", particularly in the white-collar sector (in public sector employment) and in the area of technical and highly specialized work (pilots, for instance).
The "general trade union" develops from an original nucleus which is occupational and then spreads on an inter-industry basis, irrespective of workers' particular skills.

 Trade union membership 1993-2003
The membership of trade unions - both in absolute terms and as a proportion of their potential constituency among workers - has always been an issue of major interest to industrial relations practitioners and researchers.
Taking all the centres and sets of 'other' unions considered for which information is available in each year (29 in 1993, 36 in 1998 and 48 in 2003), women’s average share of membership rose from around 39% in 1993 to 40.5% in 1998 and 41.5% in 2003.
Women’s generally increasing share of union membership would suggest that their membership is holding up better than men’s in union organisations that are decreasing in size, and that they are making up a greater share of growth in organisations that are expanding.

Zarb strongly argues that the Union, be it militant or moderate is not the business of anyone outside the Union’s structures and therefore no one has a right to dictate whatever directions and positions the Union take.
While emphasising that it is an honour for trade unionists to be militant within their union, he argues that the current PN’s media campaign is intended to destabilize and weaken the GWU to make it easier for the Nationalist Government to impose its will on the workers and the pensioners.
He argues that in considering these issues, the European trade union movement will surely be heavily involved as such matters relate directly to the workers, not least the Maltese workers now that Malta is an EU member state.
