The county is mostly drained by the Flint River, which is dammed into Mott Lake and the Holloway Reservoir in the northeast corner of the county.
In the county the population is spread out with 27.40% under the age of 18, 8.90% from 18 to 24, 29.70% from 25 to 44, 22.40% from 45 to 64, and 11.60% who are 65 years of age or older.
