Genesis Planet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the fictional Star Trek universe, the Genesis Planet was created from Regula One in the Mutara Nebula when Khan Noonien Singh detonated the Genesis Device during a fierce battle with his old adversary, Admiral Kirk.
Initial scans of the new planet indicated that all varieties of land and weather known to Earth were detected - all within a few hours walk of one another.
Once on the planet surface they found an idyllic environment similar to the one that had been created in the cave in the Regula planetoid.

IAU Redefines Planet Planetary News | The Planetary Society
Of course the "new" planets have always been there, at least in our timeframe, but it's only been with the advent of powerful new telescopes on the ground and in space – and a new definition of the word "planet" -- that the latest 3 spherical bodies are being recognized as such.
The word "planet" comes from the Greek word for "wanderer" and, in fact, for thousands of years, very little was known about the planets other than they were objects that moved in the sky with respect to the background of fixed stars.
Ceres was called a planet when it was first discovered in 1801 orbiting in what is known as the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Development and testing of the Genesis Device took place during a year-long period on a space station orbiting Regula, a class D planetoid.
The planet suffered from wind storms, fires, and earthquakes that became more and more violent, until it literally tore itself apart in an explosion almost as tremendous as the one that had created it, destroying the life that had so recently been created.
It is unclear if the technology of Genesis was at one time covered up or classified, as the only mention since Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was in "The Omega Directive" (VOY), in which Kathryn Janeway mentions "Marcus and her Genesis Device" as a comparison to other technologies deemed dangerously powerful.

Although NEC's TurboGrafx-16 had beat the Genesis to market by nearly four months, Sega quickly regained lost ground, thanks to their line-up of quality arcade conversions, killer sports games, and most of all, the full support of Trip Hawkins and Electronic Arts.
Although the Genesis development kit was reportedly overly expensive and initially difficult to work with, by the end of 1990 there were over 30 third-party developers writing games for the new system, compared to four for the TG16.
Unfortunately, most of the Sega Genesis ROM sites, including the Genesis section of The Dump have been shut down by an organization representing Sega.

Planet Preterist - Beyond Creation Science: How Preterism Refutes a Global Flood and Impacts the Genesis Debate — Part ...
Whenever the Genesis debate arises there is a tendency to think only in terms of conclusions rather than about the underlying methods used to arrive at those conclusions.
Their agreement about what Genesis actually teaches in plain-literal, scientific terms is a good example of C.S. Lewis’ dictum, “The devil sends errors into the world in pairs of exact opposites.” The error is forcing Genesis into a plain-literal hermeneutic “box”; the result is the explosive conflict that rages around us today.
Your first argument is based upon this statement: “Any satisfactory interpretation of Genesis must be preceded by a determination of the class of literature to which it belongs.” You then proceded to classify the creation/flood narratives as apocalyptic.

You can tell that Moses compiled Genesis from a number of sources because he repeatedly started from the beginning, and retold the first 7 days in the next telling as taking place in one day, because the word day is a metaphor.

Necheyev comes across as more of a "people" person than ever before because of her concern for the inhabitants of the threatened planets, but I would have expected her to be sending officers right and left to figure out who's responsible for the security breach that let Genesis escape, and trying to punish those responsible.
The as-yet-invisible threat has behaved so despicably, re-forming planets to their own specifications without regard for the life already there, that some satisfying retribution is called for.
As Vornholt keeps pointing out, Genesis has amazing capabilities as a dramatic device as well as a terraforming agent; because it makes changes at the subatomic level, it could be used for cellular regeneration, offering eternal life or constant revival like Spock experienced in the films.

Genesis™ was designed with an “electronic intermediate” in mind, utilizing a unique gamma and colorimetry that enables seamless intercutting with most 35mm film emulsions.
Another not so obvious but logical implication of filming in digital is that green screen replacement (color keying) during post-production would be much easier than when using digitized film because of the quality of the image.
As for 3D, shooting with two Genesis cameras would be much more difficult, and producing the large number of visual effects in 3D would mean at least twice the render times (and believe me, you can never have enough computer power).

Although initial tests of Genesis Device showed remarkable promise, the process was later found to be unworkable due to the dangerously unstable nature of protomatter used in Genesis matrix.

Project Genesis was a theoretical process to terraform dead planets by means of a genetic explosion that would reduce the surface of a planet to its elementary particles.
The device was subsequently stolen by Khan Noonien Singh in his revenge plans against Admiral James T. Kirk and was detonated inside the Mutara Nebula, thus creating the unstable Genesis planet.
The project was deemed a failure when the planet began to break down due to the usage of unstable protomatter in the original matrix.
