Mailgate: rec.arts.startrek.reviews: [TNG] Season Seven Episode Reviews (3/4)
Aside from the fact that the episode is clearly well-produced, it does boast a sensational performance by Brent Spiner.
"Genesis" is a marvellous, riotously funny Star Trek parody...except it's *not* a parody, it's an episode and as such we're expected to take it seriously.
Although "Firstborn" is TNG's last delve into Klingon culture, as far as I'm concerned that particular well has become about as dry as the Sahara desert.

The Top Infinite Reasons Kirk Is Better Than Picard   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Picard's crew is so incompetant that in TNG episode "Schisms" Riker and several other crew members are abducted and at the end of the episode, they still haven't found a way to ensure those abductions won't occur again.
Also, in the episodes where Kirk went missing (e.g., “The Tholian Web” or “The Paradise Syndrome”), his crew refused to abandon their search as long as they had reason to believe that their captain was still alive and could be rescued.
In the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise," Picard needs the help of a Guinan and Data to figure out the timeline was changed by the appearance of the Enterprise-C. Kirk would have figured this out on his own in 10 minutes.

TNG began 7 years prior with The Enterprise crew encountering the immortal and formidable Q (John DeLancie) and it wraps the series with their final TV encounter with Q where Picard is contantly changing between 3 time zones.
TNG was a Sci-Fi TV Show that the critics had pegged from the get-go as a dead horse, and even one Brent Spiner thought wouldn't last past the first season.
The first 24 episodes are spread over 6 DVDs with 4 eps per Dual Layered DVD and the last 2 eps on on disc 7 along with the wealth of extras.

Ex Astris Scientia - VOY Season 3
I liked to see that a story from TNG was picked up ("The Price") and I enjoyed the basic plot of the Ferengi being the gods of a primitive civilization and all its consequences, including the nifty legend of the "Sages" and the "ear cult".
Somehow the episode seems like a crossover of TNG: "Starship Mine" (Picard's "Die Hard") and TNG: "Genesis" (the Barclay-to-spider de-evolution) to me. There is not much of a unique plot, it's mostly a fierce struggle, but at least it's thrilling, and the viruses succeed in being disgusting.
Few other episodes are so full of pointed dialogues, this applies in particular to the dispute between the minister on one side and Chakotay and Gegen on the other side (I don't know if this was intentional, but "Gegen" is the German word for "against").

Whenever our spacetime is distorted or torn, or large amounts of energy released (explosions) there are subspace effects; wormholes and Transwarp Conduits are good examples where subspace plays a part in the effect, and the presumably material-based explosion of Praxis in Star Trek VI generated the subspace shockwave.
The only hint that TOS, TFS and TNG warp drives might be different is in their visual appearance on screen - only the TFS Enterprise "blurs" while in warp.

He did not get a first and middle name, Miles Edward, until "Family." This episode also established in dialogue that he was a chief petty officer, although his rank insignia had read ensign or lieutenant junior grade for three years prior to that, a costuming mistake.
The vessel's class was not stated in the episode.

After the cataclysmic explosion of the Genesis Planet, and the Klingon Empire's attempt to steal the top-secret technology, Starfleet wisely decided to destroy all data and records on Project Genesis, hoping to bury its deadly secrets forever.
Genesis Wave is one of the best Next Generation Books to come along in a long time.
I highly recommend this first title in the "Genesis Wave" trilogy as you will most certainly neither be disappointed nor able to put the book down until you've finished and are able to move on the second and third books.

Officially, the producers felt that the character of Crusher had not developed as well as they had hoped, but thanks to a letter-writing campaign and support from Patrick Stewart, McFadden was brought back to the TNG cast for the third and subsequent seasons.
McFadden became pregnant with her first child during the fourth season of TNG, learning of the pregnancy only days after performing her own stunts for the episode "Remember Me." This explains her absence during the last part of the season.
Although the directors were able to hide her pregnancy behind objects and Beverly's trademark labcoat, it was briefly visible in some episodes, including "The Host." Her son was born over hiatus; Brent Spiner is his godfather.
