RedBeard’s Curious Life » Engine Evolution
Genesis3D began life as the technology end of a game named Dragon being developed by now-defunct Eclipse Entertainment, previously known for Jack Nicklaus golf games, under funding from Microsoft.
As development progressed, and the programmers discovered the inner workings of Genesis3D, they also discovered why Eclipse had started fresh with 2.0: the codebase was deeply entrenched in principles that were essentially incompatible with the newer breed of video cards.
Hardware T&L seemed an impossibility with the existing codebase, and as most of the Genesis3D modules were in need of huge modification to adapt to the cutting edge, the decision was made to drop the G3DC goal and instead go ahead with Jet3D Destiny.

 Genesis3D World Editor 2.0
My suggestion is that tools should be excluded from the open source license requirement to the release of their source code for a period of six months (instead of immediate release of source code, as it is now).
The purchase of a $10,000 full Genesis3D license (which doesn't require release of source code) may be a minor cost to someone selling a game to potentially hundreds of thousands of people, but it is way too much money for a Genesis3D tool which will probably sell less than a hundred copies.
A tool that makes it easier to use Genesis3D is sold to potential users of the engine, who are (or are considering) using the engine, and may pay for a license or make other contributions to the engine source code after they start using it.

 3 Level Plan
The number one attraction of this programmer to those that wish to make a lively hood is that this is not a one shot deal - it will not be like a boxed product published once and then a year later the graphics and game play standard is outmoded.
The Genesis3D community already far exceeds the simple requirements of this program, and we will avoid the complications of outside investors.
In the spirit of open development and the motivation of the Genesis3D community, everyone deserves a platform they can plug their own chat levels into for sharing, giving, dedicating, at least to friends and family.

Then import the MAP file in your Genesis3D world.
