 Chalky, Shirt & Lupine…
Just after the first 3 or 4 people had gone through, Mark Eden arrived and settled down at his desk, after having a chat with Geoffrey Sax whom he just discovered he actually worked with once.
Sax - who had apparently been bemoaning his commentary on the DVD as 'boring and dull' (not exactly inspiring confidence in those who had just purchased it) - chatted amiably with Chalky and commented that he hadn't read the Regeneration book that Chalky presented to him, but did have a copy on his bookshelf.
He had even stood up to greet Chalky as he entered, but was seemingly overwhelmed by it all - having failed to understand Shirt's request to simply SIGN his postcard NOT dedicate it.

 Geoffrey Sax @ Filmbug
Geoffrey Sax comes from a long and venerable line of award-winning BBC-trained directors such as Mike Newell, Danny Boyle and Roger Michell, who have moved from the upper echelons of British television into features.
Just prior to directing White Noise for Gold Circle Films, Sax had completed a much lauded contemporary version of Othello for British television, followed by the controversial period drama written by Andrew Davies for the BBC, Tipping the Velvet.
Next up for Sax is the comedy thriller Flypaper, again for Gold Circle Films.

Director Geoffrey Sax shows adeptness at making an audience jump with shock cuts and loud noises, but this is not a particularly impressive talent.
Sax's direction makes the most out of what he has to work with to provide a general sense of creepiness, but it is the story rather than the directing or the acting that derails this one.
The basic idea of trying to communicate with a loved one after they have passed on is a compelling one and has been for centuries.

Geoffrey Sax, a television director who makes his big screen debut here owes a great deal to recent Asian horror films, like "The Eye," a stylish chiller in which a woman starts seeing ghosts after retinal surgery.
But he fails to generate any suspense, falling back on Wes Craven-style, standard-issue jump-shocks, in which every time you see an empty spot in the frame, you can be sure a ghost is going to jump out.

 White Noise (Geoffrey Sax) review
Indeed the somewhat clichéd opening, which requires the death of Anna Rivers, is handled with effective restraint by director Sax, downplayed and seen totally from the perspective of Keaton's architect protagonist.
This is director Geoffrey Sax's first cinema feature, his previous work being on TV series and, most conspicuously, on the not-entirely-well-received Dr Who: The Movie (1996).
His control of the narrative, though straightforward, is sure and visual techniques such as the use of high-angle shots reminiscent of Wise's The Haunting (which suggest something outside looking in and often isolate Keaton within a vast dark environment) create an aura of unease.

Credit should also go to Davies for his script--which echoes Shakespeare's without ever quoting it directly--to a strong supporting cast, and to director Geoffrey Sax, who balances the film's realism with slightly stylized touches that give more dramatic punch to key scenes.

On the other end, some of the more dramatic bits had “Days of Our Lives”, point and shoot written all over them.
