  Geographical Association - About the GA
The Geographical Association (GA) is a subject association with a mission to further the teaching of geography and to communicate the value of learning geography for all.
The Association was not set up by government or any other agency, but was formed by five geographers in 1893 and remains to this day an independent unincorporated association.
A small body of professional Staff, based at the Association’s Sheffield headquarters, and Officers run the GA in conjunction with its members, who are generally enthusiastic and committed educationalists.

Specifically this study examines the association between the quality of geographical space or the environmental context of the school setting and the rates of teacher absenteeism at the school site for all of the high schools located in a large urban.
First, to examine the geographical association between the quality of negative geographical space of a high school setting in a large urban school district (median family income in the area) and the rates of teacher absenteeism.
The quality of the geographical space surrounding the school setting or the median level of income for the zip code of the school setting was then applied to the map of school sites that were color-coded by high and low rates of teacher absenteeism.

 The School Atlas 1885-1915
A. Herbertson of the University of Oxford, the new Honorary Secretary of the Geographical Association, was associated with it and contributed ‘Introductory Notes’.
At the Dundee meeting of the Association in 1912 it was decided to establish a ‘Committee to Inquire into the Choice and Style of Atlas, Textual and Wall Maps for School and University Use’ under the chairmanship of Professor J. Myres and with the Rev. Walter J. Barton of Winchester College as Secretary.
The Geographical Association felt affronted: it had not been asked to nominate representatives and it thought that there were too few teachers on the Committee.

Geographical indications (GIs) are protected under the TRIPS Agreement as an intellectual property right and are under the jurisdiction of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Article 22.1 of TRIPS defines geographical indications as “indications which identify a good as originating in the territory of a Member, or a region or locality in that territory, where a given quality, reputation or other characteristic of the good is essentially attributable to it’s geographical origin.”
Harmonious co-existence of geographical indications and trademarks is possible as long as conflicts between these rights continue to be resolved pursuant to the well-established intellectual property principles of territoriality, exclusivity and priority.

Persons from any membership category, who reside within the Association’s geographical boundaries, may be selected to serve as committee members and committee chairs.

The study concludes that there is a strong association between the geographical quality of the school site setting, teacher absenteeism, and the reliance on substitute teachers to deliver instructional programs.
In essence, the geographical or environmental context of these school working conditions, even more that student poverty, are strongly associated with teacher attendance at the school site, their morale as professional educators, and a their sense of teaching efficacy in the classroom (Corcoran, Walker, and White, 1988).
These areas include the perception of time and human behavior, social justice and community well being associated with geographical space, time-space distortions for children and adolescents in a new world order, and the use of information technologies for assessment and instructional support in educational settings.
