	Georg Heinrich August Ewald (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-18)
		Georg Heinrich August von Ewald (November 16, 1803 - May 4, 1875), German orientalist and theologian, was born at Göttingen, where his father was a linen weaver.
		His loyalty to King George (son of Ernst August) would not permit him to take the oath of allegiance to the victorious king of Prussia, and he was therefore placed on the retired list, though with the full amount of his salary as pension.
		Ewald was no common man. In his public life he displayed many noble characteristics,--perfect simplicity and sincerity, intense moral earnestness, sturdy independence, absolute fearlessness.
