North Adams Transcript - Mt. Greylock student beaten, threatened   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
After listening to Kaiser explain the steps the middle school is taking to stop bullying in the middle school, Kathi George indicated the problem had gone beyond typical bullying as she explained in detail to the board how her son — a seventh-grader at Mount Greylock — was assaulted by a number of students.
On Thursday, Kathi George said that except for one seventh-grader, the boys who bullied her son were in the eighth grade, including one from Williamstown whom she said threatened to slit Billy's throat.
Kaiser repeatedly declined to offer details to the board about action the school took, but said expulsions generally are related to dangerous weapons or drugs.

George Kaiser, Medical Director of the Nevada Department of Prisons, testified in support of S.B. 264 and distributed a letter of April 24, 1995, attached as (Exhibit F).
Dr. Kaiser answered the state would not be responsible, as a positive test is required by law to be reported to the state health division who then conducts an epidemiological investigation.
Dr. Kaiser replied the determination to test should be based on a medical decision as opposed to an administrative decision due to financial limitations.

George Alger Kaiser tells seriously injured patient to finish traction at his own expense. (Told by George T. Alger)
All during this time, Kaiser had always intimated in their contacts with me that they would keep me to the end of my three month traction and that a doctor had been selected for me and was studying my case.
At the end of two weeks, and without a place I could afford to go, we put a hospital bed in my mother's family room and she took care of me. This took considerable effort as she was 76, a childhood polio victim, and on a walker at the time.
Kaiser said that we would have one home health visit and then would be on our own.

Kaiser Permanente's net income rose 60 percent last year to $1.61 billion on higher premiums, lowered operating costs and the addition of 20,000 new members nationally, the company said Monday.
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc., Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and their subsidiaries reported total revenue of $28 billion for the year, up from $25.3 billion in 2003.
But Kaiser maintains that holding such cash reserves is necessary to fund ongoing capital improvements, such as construction of a new 570,000-square-foot medical center in Antioch, set to open in 2007.

Dr. Kaiser indicated the proposed legislation would focus the department's efforts on high-risk activity noted in prison, which would reduce the number of tests which are done, thus generating a cost savings to the state.
Kaiser referenced the study regarding this matter from the American Journal of Public Health, which is attached to Exhibit D.
Dr. Kaiser reiterated earlier testimony regarding certain protocols which are established, and added regulations would need to be developed by the prison director, instructing the custodial staff to report incidents of high-risk activity by data entry.

Kaiser Permanente is suing a former pharmacist for allegedly stealing prescription drugs from the HMO's Antioch facilities for under-the-table sales to pharmacies, according to court records.
On Dec. 21, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Judith Ford gave Kaiser permission to subpoena, without the Chius' knowledge, the couple's cellular phone, pager and telephone records to identify the pharmacies that are believed to have bought the drugs at up to a 40 percent discount, records show.
Kaiser said it wants to determine the extent of the loss, trace the proceeds and identify the buyers of the drugs to help build a case against Chiu, who is also under investigation by the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

 Sources on David Lloyd George
Lloyd George was also very concerned with the rise of communism in Russia and he feared that it might spread to western Europe – Germany should be left as a barrier to resist the expected spread of communism.
Lloyd George did not want Germany treated with lenience but he knew that Germany would be the only country in central Europe that could stop the spread of communism if it burst over the frontiers of Russia.
Lloyd George was inclined towards leniency since he felt that to leave an embittered Germany would be to store up problems for the future, as the Germans would wish to exact retribution.

George, then, at an early age went to his Uncle Vladislaus, King of Hungary and Bohemia: for George's Mother, as we know, was of royal kin; daughter of the Polish King, Casimir IV.
George did not like the Hungarian Domains, with their Turk and other inconveniences; he proposed to exchange them with King Vladislaus for the Bohemian-Silesian Duchy of Jagerndorf; which had just then, by failure of heirs, lapsed to the King.
George had come home from Jagerndorf, some three hundred miles away, to look into it for himself; found it, what with darkness all round, what with precipices menacing on both hands, and zealous, inconsiderate Town-populations threatening to take the bit between their teeth, a frightfully intricate thing.

The most interesting meeting I attended at Kaiser last year was when the Managing Director of the Technology Group tried to recruit his subordinates to fight an accounting battle with CEO George Halvorson's new IT Leadership Team.
Yet he was still in a position to influence behavior and mold perceptions of his subordinates, and he got up on the podium and did not hesitate to exploit that power.
Kaiser CEO George Halvorson and Kaiser North California CEO Robbie Pearl have the power, and hopefully the mandate, to make organizational changes that will protect employees from toxic management.

The Kaiser was known as a brilliant and insightful intellectual.
As for character and personality, well you can believe the Kaiser was a genius if you want (many Republicans insist George W is privately an intellectual dynamo), but most European leaders considered Wilhelm an insufferable fop who viewed the High Seas Fleet like a boy with his toy soldiers.
In fact, I have read on numerous occasions that he does not consider himself an "intellectual" or "elitest", and if you have ever heard the man speak you would well know that he is not the brightest crayon in the box and is perhaps a few chicken nuggets short of his beloved happy meal.
