		The Minister-President of the state of Saxony, Georg Milbradt, visited the United States from February 26 to March 2.
		His visit was primarily an effort both to present Saxony as a cultural center to a broad American public and to further promote the economic interests of his state, already a favored place of business for American investors, also with an eye to the upcoming EU enlargement.
		To sum up his talks, Milbradt stressed the extraordinarily close economic link between his state and the U.S. According to the minister-president, approximately one-third of Saxony's exports flow to the United States, and American businesses are the largest foreign investor in Saxony.

	Nanoscale the University at Albany - Nanotechnology in The News
		Gov. George Pataki and Georg Milbradt, minister-president of Saxony, announced their intentions at UAlbany on Monday after a joint tour of the Infineon Development Center at Albany NanoTech.
		Milbradt said the deal would help create a "true trans-Atlantic partnership" that would save money on research that costs hundreds of millions of dollars.
		Milbradt's visit was organized by Infineon Technologies Inc., a German semiconductor manufacturer that built a large plant in Dresden in the 1990s.

	Key figure in Leipzig Olympic bid axed
		Georg Milbradt, the head of the Saxony regional government, announced Wolfram Kohler had been let go for signing contracts, while mayor of eastern German city Riesa, which favoured his wife.
		Milbradt said the suspicions surrounding Kohler, the regional state secretary for the Leipzig candidature, meant he had been unable to fully commit himself to the bid.
		Kohler's removal came after the axing this month of bid chief Dirk Tharichen following newspaper allegations he had been a warrant officer with the Stasi secret police under the old communist regime.
