Sir George Airey Kirkpatrick, PC, KCMG, QC (September 13, 1841 13 December 1899) was a politician from Ontario, Canada.
Born in 1841 in Kingston, Ontario, George Kirkpatrick was educated at Trinity College, Dublin.
In 1875, Kirkpatrick contested the Governor General's right to pardon Louis Riel without the consent of the Canadian Cabinet.

        George Airey Kirkpatrick was descended from the Irish branch of the barons of Closeburn, Scotland.
His father, a son of Alexander Kirkpatrick, high sheriff of the city and county of Dublin, came to Upper Canada in 1823 and became a successful lawyer, politician, and businessman in Kingston.
George Airey Kirkpatrick also had extensive commercial interests, most notably as president of the Canadian Locomotive and Engine Company in Kingston from 1882 until his death and as a director of the Canadian Pacific Railway from 1886.

Kirkpatrick received part of his education at the Grammar School, Kingston, and the High School, St. Johns, P.Q.; after which he was sent to Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated with high honours, receiving the degrees of B.A. and L.L. B.; he also graduated as moderator and silver medallist for law., literature and political economy.
Kirkpatrick was returned, and the electorate which had felt such confidence in their young representative were soon convinced that their forecasting had been correct, for he at once manifested the same excellent intellectual qualities in public which he had shown in his private affairs.
Kirkpatrick’s measure was is now apparent to the public, and sailors on inland seas regarded him justly as their benefactor.
