Cameron was also involved in a partnership beginning in 1802 with his step nephew George Anderson, establishing a store in Hillsborough, N.C., which later moved to Martinsville, Va. In the 1810s, Cameron started a commission merchant firm in Petersburg, Va., with his brother William Cameron and Samuel Snow.
Cameron was also a vice president of the American Bible Society and the American Sunday School Society during the 1820s and received regular correspondence from the two organizations.
Although Duncan Cameron relinquished the presidency of the Bank of the State of North Carolina in 1849, he continued to correspond regularly with officers of the bank until he was close to death in 1853.

(Schaefer) Cameron, of 1 Gap Head Road, Rockport, a well-known building contractor and consultant who was more recently known for his active involvement in the restoration and development of Thacher Island, died on Friday evening at the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a short illness.
Cameron was known for his untiring devotion to the efforts to restore the buildings and natural resources of Thacher Island.
Cameron was an active member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club, an avid yachtsman and sailboat racer, and will be remembered by several generations of Rockport youth for his active involvement in the Rockport Sea Scout program.

CAMERON: George Gordon Jr., 74, a longtime Lyndonville resident, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury.
The son of George Gordon and Mildred Melvina (Heartz) Cameron, George was born June 8, 1927 in Woodsville, N.H. He was a machinist for many years at Vermont Tap & Die in Lyndonville.
George had a fondness for automobiles and was quite knowledgeable, especially as a mechanic.
