When George Carlin was just two months old, his mother escaped her abusive husband by climbing out a window and down a fire escape with George in her arms and holding his five-year-old brother by the hand.
George's parents legally separated in December 1937 and in 1941, George, his brother and mother moved back to New York City.
Carlin was deeply grieved, and took time off from his career to mourn his loss.

"George on George" is a great, introspective DVD regarding his life in New York to his desire to be comedian to his partnership in the comedian team of Burns and Carlin to how his two decades of concerts on HBO changed his life as a comedian.
If you're a Carlin fan, this still is a worthwhile purchase; however, I for one will never be able to really look at this set as any kind of a "collector's set" because of the high "what this set should have been" factor.
Carlin discusses his early years, growing up with his brother in New York, his efforts to join the counterculture, the Seven Words and the Supreme Court case, his marijuana/cocaine use and (most fun of all) his dealings with the IRS.
