  Dealey Plaza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dealey Plaza, (pronounced dee-lee) in the historic West End district of downtown Dallas, Texas (USA), is famous as the location of the John F. Kennedy assassination on November 22, 1963.
Dealey Plaza is a public park completed in 1939 on the west edge of downtown Dallas where three streets converge (Main Street, Elm Street, and Commerce Street) to pass under a railroad bridge known locally as the triple underpass.
Dealey Plaza is historically known as the site of the first Masonic temple in Dallas, (now razed) and there is a marker attesting to this fact in the plaza.

Dealey provided the guiding spirit behind the creation of many of the city’s institutions, including the Kessler City Plan in 1910, the Federal Reserve Bank in 1914, the Dallas Foundation in 1920, and the Dallas Historical Society in 1922.

A statue of Dealey, who was born in England, overlooks the plaza, through which Dallas' three principal thoroughfares run: Commerce Street, Main Street, and Elm Street - the street on which the assassination took place.
This historical marker was placed at Dealey Plaza and dedicated on November 22, 1993, the thirtieth anniversary of the assassination.
The Main Street parking garage entrance seen here leads down a ramp to the spot where Ruby emerged from a crowd of reporters and shot Oswald as point blank range as he was about to be transferred from the city to the county jail.

Dealey is trustee emeritus of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, D.C. and serves on the executive committee of the Texas State History Museum Foundation.

We reached Dealey Plaza near nightfall, so the quality of these pictures is not that great.

It was first developed in the early thirties by a successful team of miniature golf course designers who rented the property until the national craze for miniature golf died.
George and Marie’s daughters worked there: Rosemary and Martha, then coeds at SMU, attracted the college crowd, and Gloria and Diane brought in the Highland Park High School crowd.

The great-grandson of the founding publisher, George B. Dealey, he joined the family business full-time in 1970, working in employee relations, and after a stint in the Army, entered the management-training program in 1972.
He wanted to work on the editorial side of the paper but was stuck in the executive track, so he quit.
