George Goldner is one of those behind-the-scenes figures in the history of popular music, akin to Leonard and Phil Chess, Lew Chudd, and Art Rupe -- a record label owner and entrepreneur with a certain love of music and a knack for seeing it created.
George Goldner had his vices, and one of them was gambling, and another was a peculiar form of laziness.
Goldner was relatively unfazed, and, indeed, was in the process of organizing a new label, Firebird, when he was struck down by a massive heart attack on April 15, 1970, at age 52.

In his lawsuit, Turner charges Goldner and the Getty with suppressing publication of his catalogue of the Getty's drawing collection, which Turner worked on for four years, because it asserts in an appendix that six Getty drawings are forgeries (Turner suggests they were done by the contemporary English master forger, Eric Hebborn).
The drawings in question were acquired by the museum while Goldner was curator.
Goldner denies threatening to sue, but says, "People generally don't publish allegations about forgeries as the result of agreements about sexual harassment." The Getty says Turner's claims regarding the drawings are mistaken.

According to Mark Ribowski in his biography of Phil Spector (himself a prime example of the kind of figure being discussed here), He’s A Rebel, Arlene Smith, who had fronted the Chantels, was to be produced by Burt Bacharach at Big Top Records, but was run off the project by Goldner.
Goldner apparently used mob leverage to replace Bacharach with Spector.
