George W. Goodman, a social worker, journalist and educator who was an official of the National Urban League and a dean at Fisk University, died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.
Goodman served as executive secretary of the National Urban League's Washington and Boston branches, started radio station WLIB's news and public affairs department and was a member of the editorial board of The Hartford Times.
Goodman is survived by his wife, Amelia Myers Goodman, and two sons, George W. Goodman Jr., a reporter with The New York Times, and Jon L. Goodman, both of New York City.

Anderson Goodman  was born during a time of frontier giants on the western frontier.  Thomas Jefferson was just handing over the reins of the presidency to James Madison when Anderson S. Goodman was born.
In October of 1837,Solomon Poindexter Goodman, Anderson, and several other community leaders successfully petitioned for Pelham to become a part of Coffee County (which later became Grundy County, in 1844).  The petition was approved February 3, 1838, and Anderson was appointed Postmaster for Pelham in 1842 and again in 1854.
George S. Goodman was the sixth of seven children born to Anderson S. Goodman and Evalina Payne.  He was born in Tracy, Grundy County, Tennessee, March 28, 1845.

(Sir) William George T. Goodman was chief engineer (1907-1950) and manager (1908-1950) of the Municipal Tramways Trust (MTT) of South Australia where he oversaw the construction of South Australia’s tramways network and an increase in the number of MTT buses in service.
During this time, William Goodman established an electric tramways system in Adelaide (1907) and Port Adelaide (1917), a new power station, increased the number of MTT buses in operation, took over the management of the Adelaide-Glenelg railways (1929), and later replaced Port Adelaide’s trams with double-deck trolley buses (1938).
William Goodman's efforts were rewarded in 1932 when he was knighted and again in 1945 when he received the prestigious Peter Nicol Russell memorial medal from Australia's Institute of Engineering.
