George Hainsworth (June 26, 1895 in Toronto, Ontario - October 9, 1950) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Hainsworth also played for the WCHL's Saskatoon Crescents and Saskatoon Sheiks.
Hainsworth was killed in an auto accident October 9th,1950

Hainsworth launched his pro career as a 28 year old rookie in the Western Canada Hockey League with Newsy Lalonde's Saskatoon Crescents (later the Sheiks) and starred for three years until that league folded.
Assuming the goaltending mantle from Vezina for the 1926-27 season, he became the first winner of the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in the NHL for allowing the fewest goals over the course of a season, and captured the award for the next two seasons as well.
Over the course of his career with the Canadiens, Hainsworth logged 75 shutouts in the regular season and six more in the playoffs while maintaining a goals against average of 1.85.

Since 1983, this annual goaltending award is presented "to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at his position." The winner is voted on by the general managers of each of the NHL clubs, with the winner receiving $10,000 and the runners up $6,000 and $4,000.
Georges Vezina was perhaps one of the best goaltenders at the time when the NHA and NHL were transitioning.
Georges played every game of every season from the birth of the NHL until his final game, on November 28, 1925.

Grant Fuhr, Mike Gartner, George Hainsworth, Lanny McDonald and Jacques Plante are the only guys that come to my mind that briefly played for Toronto.
Sawchuk and Pronovost were Wings for the vast majority of their careers, Ullman for the majority, although he did play a number of years with the leaf as well.
Fuhr, Gartner, Hainsworth, Lanny M. and Plante are correct.
