George Harrison - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Harrison quickly became fascinated with the instrument, immersed himself in Indian music and was pivotal in popularizing the sitar in particular and Indian music in general in the West.
Harrison's final television appearance was not intended as such; in fact, he was not the featured artist, and the appearance was to promote Chants of India, another collaboration with Ravi Shankar released in 1997, at the height of interest in chant music.
Harrison married model Pattie Boyd on January 21, 1966 at Leatherhead and Esher registry office, and is reputed to have written the song "Something" for her in 1969, although he himself denied this, saying he was actually thinking about Ray Charles.

George had increasingly begun to suffer from a malady which tended to give his compositions a 'twee' feel to them and this album does not escape.
George does tend to hit the rocks on his more soulful, ballad tunes, but in full flow, voice and tone of his rockier numbers, he's a devilish force to be reckoned with.
Harrison is ever on hand with his dextrous guitar fills and his tuneful vocal tones, whilst Lynne, as ever, captures the heart of the album behind the production desk.
