George Lohmann (born June 2, 1865; died December 1, 1901) is regarded as one the greatest bowlers of all time.
Here, Lohmann established himself as a great bowler with a superb twelve for 104 (7 for 36 and 5 for 68), giving England what is still one of its most decisive wins in an Ashes series.
Lohmann continued to carry all before him in 1890, taking a career-best 220 wickets and being the leading wicket-taker outside of touring teams for the sixth successive year (a feat bettered only by Tich Freeman between 1928 and 1935).

However, Lohmann did come back to England in 1901 to manage the second South African touring team (and the first whose matches were actually recognised as first-class).

Lohmann began making hand-coated platinum prints in ’77 as a response to the mood and character he saw in the vintage platinum prints of P.H. Emerson and Frederick H. Evans.
He loved the work of early platinum revivalists like George Tice and Tom Millea, and was drawn to the ambiguous reference to time created by the print’s warm tones.
Lohmann is currently working on a project titled “Atmosphere.” In his words, “I have stopped seeing my photographs as descriptions of place but as visual metaphors, where the whole is equal to more than the sum of its parts.

Port Elizabeth's St George's Park staged the first Test to be played outside England or Australia in 1888-89 (England winning by eight wickets) and in 1969-70 hosted the final Test before South Africa's 21-year isolation.
England's George Lohmann took 7 for 38 in South Africa's first innings and then 8 for 7 in their second as they were bowled out for 30.
Located near the city centre, St George's Park is easily accessible by public transport, car or on foot, and, as with other South African grounds is still a blend of open space and covered seating.

History of Test cricket (1884 to 1889) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Three quick wickets, the third of them being George Bonnor, who was reluctant to go after being driven back onto his stumps, saw the Aussies collapse to 97 for 5.
George Lohmann, who was dropped with only a single to his name, however, went on to make 32 and take the England total to 223.
George Lohmann then destroyed Australia, becoming the first man to take eight wickets in a Test innings, as the Aussies made only 84.

Arthur Mold - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
From 1896, owing either to improved pitches, advancing age or several injuries, Mold declined, though he was still a dangerous bowler and only narrowly missed out on a Test recall after a superb performance against a powerful Yorkshire batting lineup in July 1896.
During that year, he sent a bail over 57 metres in bowling George Lohmann at The Oval - the fourth-highest recorded distance for a bail to travel.
He missed 100 wickets for the first time in 1897 due to injury, but recovered some of his form in 1899 and early 1900, when, despite being 37, his pace seemed undiminished and he earned his best figures since 1895.

Bowling average - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Career records for bowling average are usually subject to a qualification of a minimum number of balls bowled or wickets taken, to avoid including artificially high or low averages resulting from a career spanning only a few matches.
Under the usual qualification of at least 2,000 balls bowled, George Lohmann has the lowest Test bowling average, with 112 wickets taken at an average of 10.75.
It should be noted that Lohmann played in the late 19th century, when pitch conditions were far more favourable to bowlers than is currently the case.

Harbhajan's 32 wickets in this series was the fourth highest in a three-match Test series after the 35 wickets by England's pace bowler George Lohmann (in 1895-96 in South Africa), 34 wickets by England paceman Syd Barnes (in 1912 against South Africa) and 33 wickets by New Zealand's Richard Hadlee (in 1985-86 in Australia).
However his tally was the best by a spinner in a three-match series bettering the 30 wickets by Pakistani leg-spinner Abdul Qadir (in 1987-88 against England).

Scores, reports and series summaries from AUS v ENG 1891-92 tour
George Lohmann (8-58) and Bobby Abel (132*) lifted England's spirits in the 2nd Test when they combined to give the visitors a 1st innings lead of 163 at the halfway mark in Sydney, but it proved an illusory advantage as Australia rallied to claim a 72-run victory.
Abel's innings was the first instance of an Englishman carrying his bat in Test cricket, but he still ended on the losing side as Australia posted 391-9 declared in their 2nd innings and then bowled out their opponents for 156, with George Giffen taking 6-72.
Revenge belatedly arrived in the 3rd Test when Andrew Stoddart's 134 was the bedrock of England's 499, before left-arm spinner Johnny Briggs made hay on a deteriorating wicket by claiming 6-49 and 6-87 as Australia crashed to an innings defeat.

Like most people involved in theatre, Valley Masquers Director George Lohmann began his theatre "career" in high school, in his case with a production of "I Remember Mama" as Peter Torkelson.
But by that time, in 1991, Lohmann had already taken up directing by agreeing to lead the Valley Masquers.
But Lohmann counts among his proudest moments his production of "Jesus Christ Superstar." "That year," he recalls, "everything just came together--despite, or maybe because of, all the controversy over doing a show with a strong religious theme in a public high school."
