George Mortimer Bibb (October 30, 1776–April 14, 1859) was an American politician.
Bibb was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia, graduated from Hampden-Sidney College and the College of William and Mary, then studied law.
He was a very aged man when he assumed his Treasury position, dressing "in antique style, with kneebreeches." Bibb's Annual Report on the State of the Finances for 1844 consisted of an elaborate compilation of statistics detailing the financial history of the nation since 1789.

Bibb served in the United States Senate from 1811 to 1814 and from 1829 to 1835.
The Bibb made her first attack on an enemy submarine on 3 April 1942, firing five "Y" gun charges and dropping two depth charges on what proved to be a doubtful sound contact.
On the 6th Bibb, together with USS MacLeish (DD-220) was relieved of further escort duty and departed the convoy setting a course for Argentia, where she arrived on the 7th.

George Mortimer Bibb was born in 1776 in Prince Edward County, Virginia.
Bibb served in the Senate until 1835, returning to his home state to serve as chancellor of the Louisville Chancery Court.
After leaving the cabinet at the end of Tyler’s administration, Bibb returned to the law, this time practicing in Washington, D.C. His final political assignment was a three-year stint as the chief clerk in the attorney general’s office (1850-1853).

The Bibb now rests on her starboard side in 130 feet of seawater, about a quarter mile from her sister ship the Duane.

    George M. Bibb (1776-1859) was appointed President Tyler's fourth Secretary of the Treasury in 1844, upon the resignation of John C. Spencer.
After serving less than a year, Bibb resigned at the end of Tyler's administration in 1845.
However, Ulke's 1880 portrait of George M. Bibb, painted thirty-five years after Bibb's tenure as Secretary, was probably copied from some earlier painting.

In 1985, the Bibb was decommissioned and was later purchased along with its sister ship, the Duane, for $160,000 to become artificial reefs.
The Bibb's guns were removed before the ship was sunk and the large turret at the bow was sealed to prevent divers from entering the ship.
The Bibb, even though it's not a very deep wreck, is always a lot of fun to explore, and I'm looking forward to my next dive on this ship when I plan to explore some of the corridors I didn't get a chance to look at on this dive.

On the eighteenth of March, 1768, George Moffett qualified in the county court as the guardian of James Trimble orphan of John Trimble.
In his youth he aspired to the practice of law and began his studies under George Nicholas, whose chief distinction in the new State of Kentucky was thwarting this emancipation movement in the first constitutional convention, where Father David Rice immortalized himself as a patriot and lover of human freedom in opposition to George Nicholas.
Robert Trimble continued his studies under another attorney at the death of George Nicholas, and was licensed to practice by the Court of Appeals in 1863(probably should be 1803).

On the fourth and last trip the boat became completely awash, irreparably damaged, and some survivors were washed overboard but were rescued by members of the boats crew and by BMI Ralph Keller, US Coast Guard, a member of a lifeboat unloading detail.
He dropped into the water, braced his hands and feet against the side of the Bibb and back against the boat, thus preventing the survivor being crushed between the boat and the Bibb.
The survivor was passed back into the boat by Keller and was subsequently brought safely aboard the Bibb.

George M. Bibb, a side-wheel steamer, was launched at Pittsburgh, Pa., 10 April 1845 and ordered to New Orleans, La., for duty with the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service, Captain Winslow Foster, USRCS, in command.
She operated out of New Orleans until 18 May 1846 when she sailed with 10 other cutters for duty in the Gulf of Mexico during the Mexican War.
