George Macleod, a graduate of Glasgow University, was one of the world's foremost authorities on the homeopathic treatment of animals.
George MacLeod MRCVS, DVCSM, is one of the UK's homoeopathic stalwarts and was for many years one of the few vets with very much experience of homoeopathy.
George MacLeod has already published books on the homoeopathic treatment of horses and cattle and I might mention he had previously given a long paper on the homoeopathic treatment of goats, in the VH Journal.

George MacLeod was born in Glasgow in 1895, the son of a wealthy, conservative Member of Parliament, and was raised amidst the wealth that epitomised the twilight of the British Empire.
In 1938 MacLeod decided to move his ministry to Iona, a remote island off the west coast of Scotland where in 563 Columba had founded a Celtic monastery.
In 1967, he was named Baron MacLeod of Fuinary by Queen Elizabeth II and in 1989 he was awarded the prestigious Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion.

Macleod's poetry is written in simple, natural rhythms and incorporates much of the imagery of the bardic poets.
In 1980, he was appointed an officer of the Order of Canada, and received the highest honours from the Canadian Medical Association, the Association of Canadian Medical Colleges, the Canadian Public Health Association and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.
MacLeod held honorary degrees from the universities of Saskatchewan, Queens, Sherbrooke and Memorial.

His brother, David Douglas MacLeod, qualified as an Alberta Land Surveyor but was killed in the war before obtaining his commission.
After the war, Lt-Col. MacLeod commanded the 1st Battalion Edmonton Regiment and, in 1932, was appointed to the penitentiary service, being warden at Prince Albert penitentiary and later of Stony Mountain, Winnipeg.
George Waters MacLeod died on July 15, 1937.

Born just before the start of the 20th century into a famous ecclesiastical dynasty, George MacLeod became disturbed by his increasing awareness of ´two nations´, the rich and the poor, while working as a young minister in Edinburgh during the 1920s.
