George F. McGinnis (born August 12, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is a former professional basketball player, most notably with the Indiana Pacers of the American Basketball Association (ABA) (from 1972 to 1975).
George McGinnis has been one of the marquee players of the ABA and later teamed with Julius Erving on the Philadelphia 76ers that made the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals in 1977.
George McGinnis is also one of the few ABA Most Valuable Players not called up to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, aside from former ABA players already admitted such as: Connie Hawkins (1992), Dan Issel (1993), and David Thompson (1996).

The 11th was reorganized as a three-year unit and in September McGinnis was appointed the commanding colonel.

McGinnis was drafted into the army, but was furloughed, and afterward joined a military company known as the one hundred days' men, but was again furloughed, and received his discharge at the close of the war.
Daniel McGinnis, subject of this sketch, received a common education and was taught the duties of the farm at an early age.
George McGinnis learned readily, and thus became a well educated man. He was married on January 5, 1821, in Fayette county, to Miss Mary Wood, who was born May 3, 1805, who was the daughter of Abinah and Susannah (Humphrey) Wood, the former an American of English Irish descent.

George Gervin (born April 27, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan) is a former professional basketball player, a shooting guard for the American Basketball Association's (ABA) Virginia Squires and the National Basketball Association's (NBA) San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls.
Gervin averaged at least 14 points in all fourteen of his ABA and NBA seasons, and finished with an NBA career average of 26.2 points per game.
Gary Payton said Gervin was his favorite player to watch as a kid.

The Pacers signed George McGinnis for the 1971-72 season and he made an immediate impact, moving into the starting lineup at forward and sending Brown to the backcourt.
In Game 6, McGinnis, Darnell Hillman and Rick Mount came off the bench in the second half to combine for 44 points and 23 rebounds to even the series again 3-3.
