George WILLOUGHBY   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
George Willoughby died on 8 Aug 1550 and he was a member of the Inner Temple, as was his associate in the committal of the second bill, Thomas Gawdy.
Willoughby's appointment as attorney to the council in the marches of Wales answered to his progress in his profession and his standing in the region: he was probably helped to it by Queen Catherine Parr and by John Dudley, Earl of Warwick, for both of whom he acted.
Willoughby became a member of Warwick's council and dealt with him in land, acquiring from him the reversion of a Gloucestershire manor in Jun 1547 and two more manors in Gloucestershire and one in Worcestershire in Jan 1550.

I should note that while Schlesinger and Willoughby are certainly the big names on this briny marquee, the third author, Dan George, is probably the most important contributor of content.
George is a lawyer by training, but his real passion and skill is in cooking, especially in cooking pickles.
What this means is that this book is not the result of Schlesinger and Willoughby's wanting to make a fast buck by attaching their name to a book about a subject on which they have no expertise.
