(born December 29, 1946 in Panama City, Panama) was a jockey based primarily in the United States, is a Hall of Fame jockey.
A founding member of the Jockeys' Guild in 1940, Johnny Longden was the United States' leading jockey in races won in 1938, 1947, and again in 1948 and was the leading jockey in purses won in 1943 and 1945.
He was voted the prestigious George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award in 1952 that honors a rider whose career and personal conduct exemplifies the very best example of participants in the sport of thoroughbred racing.

The award was created through donations from the racing public after the untimely death of Hall of Fame jockey George Woolf.
The one-time only award is voted on by members of the Jockeys' Guild who chose from among their peers nominated by Guild regional managers.
The trophy that goes along with the award is a one foot-high replica of the life-size statue of George Woolf that, along with a bronze sculpture of his favorite mount, Seabiscuit, has a place of honor in the Santa Anita Paddock Gardens.
