 | | On Aug. 31, 1902, George A. Wyman, a bicyclist and a member of San Francisco’s Bay City Wheelmen, arrived in Reno on a California Motor Touring Wheel, the first motorcyclist ever to negotiate Donner Pass. |
 | | Wyman continued up the trail, passing through Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Carlin, Elko, Wells and Tecoma before crossing the Utah line May 26, reflecting at one point that “I felt as if I was a fool for attempting to cross the continent on a motor bicycle. |
 | | The publication folded in 1906 and Wyman’s account was lost to researchers until Roger Hull, editor and publisher of Road Rider, learned of the historic journey in the early 1970s. |
