Wyman was born in Dayton and on leaving school was apprenticed in the architects office of his uncle, Luthor Peters.
According to a story told by Wyman's grandson, the famous sci-fi figure Forrest J Ackerman, Wyman was troubled by the responsibility of taking on the commission.
As a result, Wyman accepted the commission, and Bradbury was pleased with the drawings and plans for a five story building at the corner of Third Avenue and Broadway.

Wyman’s 3,800-mile journey was sponsored by and covered in a series of first-person accounts titled “Across America on a Motor Bicycle” by the short-lived Motorcycle Magazine, the first magazine in the country devoted solely to motorcycling.
Wyman was present in the first meeting in New York City that formed the Federation of American Motorcyclists (F.A.M.) and it was reported his hands were still in bandages from the trip.
Wyman and his bike returned to San Francisco by train in August and the bike was put on display in Golden Gate Park, in a special exhibition commemorating the trip.

On Aug. 31, 1902, George A. Wyman, a bicyclist and a member of San Francisco’s Bay City Wheelmen, arrived in Reno on a California Motor Touring Wheel, the first motorcyclist ever to negotiate Donner Pass.
Wyman continued up the trail, passing through Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Carlin, Elko, Wells and Tecoma before crossing the Utah line May 26, reflecting at one point that “I felt as if I was a fool for attempting to cross the continent on a motor bicycle.
The publication folded in 1906 and Wyman’s account was lost to researchers until Roger Hull, editor and publisher of Road Rider, learned of the historic journey in the early 1970s.
