I faxed George and though it seemed like a lot of money to pay a taxi driver for a ride from the airport, we did book him to pick us up, as we were arriving in Athens on a Saturday night at midnight, and needed to see a friendly English-speaking face.

At the time it was quite an honor to be admitted to their gatherings.
