 Special Collections at Georgetown
Georgetown's third president, Louis Guillaume Valentin DuBourg, a Sulpician, later the first bishop of New Orleans and after that archbishop of Besançon, advertised Georgetown's willingness to accept students of other religious faiths and styled the school a "college." As might be expected, enrollment increased and the college began to prosper.
It was, appropriately, topheavy in theology: the Jesuit novitiate established in 1806 was in the college.
The quarrelsome Anne Royall visited the college about 1825 and noted that the library contained 9,000 volumes, but she was more impressed with a kitchen garden she thought "the finest in the country" that was to be seen from the library's windows.

 Insecure about choosing Georgetown - College Discussion
Let me precede this by saying that I know that Georgetown is one of the most selective schools in the country, and one of the most prestigious as well, and I do not post this thread to incur anyone's wrath or to upset anyone.
I guess it's a sight to be experienced, the Georgetown experience that is. I mean, we haven't even left yet, and from what I hear, the GU experience is amazing.
Georgetown isn't either, but I think if we picked it, out of the many, then it has the BEST chance of fitting us well.

If you are a catholic wanting to have a catholic experience in college, Georgetown would be a good choice but other schools like BC or Notre Dame would be better, for they are more conservative in terms of catholic traditions.
In conclusion, Georgetown will always be a Jesuit institution for it was founded by the Jesuits adhering to their philosophy on spreading the Catholic faith through education, however it has uniquely over time become more tolerable than other Catholic schools in issues like non-catholic students that it has become very liberal in the 21st centery.
Georgetown is supposedly the only university in the country with a full time Muslim cleric on staff.

I'm currently working on my application for Georgetown, and I know that I should include some sort of supplementary resume/"bragsheet" along with filling out the little table that's given for extracurricular activities.
I don't remember if I sent it to Georgetown, but I did have a table format "brag sheet" that came in handy for scholarships and as reference for everything else.
She graduated from Dartmouth and served as an admissions counselor there for four years so I definetly took her advice and my guidance counselor was very impressed w/the list as well.

(This will always be asked in college interviews in one form or another.) In regards to accomplishments, my interviewer was also focused on stuff that related to the particular college in Georgetown I was applying to (MSB).
The odd thing about Georgetown though, is that social divisions and cliques are less about skin color and wealth (although that does play a part) but more about what you do weekends and weeknights.
