The crew of Soyuz 6, Valeri Kubasov and Georgi Shonin, were to have taken spectacular motion pictures of the Soyuz 7 -- Soyuz 8 docking.

Four Russian cosmonauts have been killed during while on a space flight, and two of those men were rookie cosmonauts.
The names of those two men are Georgi Dobrovolsky and Viktor Patsayev, both crewmembers of the fatal Soyuz 11 mission.
Since they died on their first spaceflight their autographs are extremely rare (almost non-existent) and when they are seen can sell for thousands of dollars.

 Buran Analogue
Prior to completion the OK-GLI was used on the 3M-T transport to test fight characteristics of the 3M-T/orbiter combination, the OK-launch vehicle interface attach points, and to develop the optimal transport configuration.
It has been claimed that some of these tests were to be manned, and that on the first such flight cosmonauts Georgi Shonin and Yevgeni Khrunov were involved in an accident when the 3M-T ran off the runway.
However it is now known that the payload capacity of the 3M-T was limited to 50 tonnes, so this story seems unlikely (an empty orbiter would weigh at least 70 tonnes).

Review/Dance; Red Star: Hornpipes and Cossack Leaps - New York Times
At its enthusiastically received Manhattan debut at Avery Fisher Hall on Monday night, the Red Star dancers, singers and musicians adopted a style that was distinctly Boston Pops, remote from the old heroic manner of the Aleksandrov chorus.
Red Star, which was introduced by the actor Anthony Quinn, a fan, and by Gen. Georgi Shonin, a former Russian astronaut who is on tour with the ensemble, is shrewdly directed at contemporary international audiences.
Patriotic fervor yields to artistic values in this smoothly concertized program.
