Georgia State Route 400 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Georgia State Route 400 (always known locally as Georgia 400 or by its nickname, the "Alpharetta Autobahn") is a highway in the U.S. state of Georgia, muliplexed with U.S. from exit 4B until its terminus just south of Dahlonega.
Georgia 400 goes from Atlanta, at I-85, to Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, Forsyth County, Dawson County, and Dahlonega.
Like the interstate highways, it is a limited access road (with exit ramps instead of intersections), but unlike the interstates (which were renumbered by the GDOT in 2000), the exit numbers do not indicate mileage: they still go up sequentially one-by-one.

State laws that qualified under these alternatives required that before any licensee completed the transfer of a handgun to a non-licensee, a government official verified that possession of a handgun by the transferee would not be a violation of law.
Under State law, handgun sellers are required to forward copies of purchaser statements by registered or certified mail to the chief of police of the municipality or the sheriff of the county where the seller is a resident, and to the director of public safety.
State law forbids the possession of a handgun by a person who is under the age of 18 (except in limited circumstances), a convicted felon or a fugitive from justice.

Section 182(b) of the CAA requires that each state in which all or part of a serious nonattainment area is located submit, by November 15, 1992, an inventory of actual emissions from all sources, as described in section 172(c)(3) and 182(a)(1), in accordance with guidance provided by the Administrator.
Georgia Rule 391-3-1-.02(2)(bbb) requires that during the summer months (June 1--September 15) the RVP limit for gasoline dispensed in the 13 county nonattainment area not exceed 7.0 psi which is lower than the federally mandated RVP of 7.8 psi.
State governments are generally preempted under section 211(c)(4)(A) of the CAA from requiring gasoline sold in any area in a State to meet an RVP standard different from the federal standard.

FindLaw for Legal Professionals - Case Law, Federal and State Resources, Forms, and Code
Ohio, 395 U.S. (1969), or the constitutionality of the state law, we have concluded that the judgment of the District Court, enjoining appellant Younger from prosecuting under these California statutes, must be reversed as a violation of the national policy forbidding federal courts to stay or enjoin pending state court proceedings except under special circumstances.
But the States would then be stripped of all power to prosecute even the socially dangerous and constitutionally unprotected conduct that had been covered by the statute, until a new statute could be passed by the state legislature and approved by the federal courts in potentially lengthy trial and appellate proceedings.
[401 U.S. with the proper policy to be followed by a federal court when asked to intervene by injunction or declaratory judgment in a criminal prosecution which is contemporaneously pending in a state court.

In the case of highway construction, which are often multi-year projects, the states are allowed to plan, design, and construct the project with the assurance that federal funds are there to cover the costs.
States which do not enact an open container law must transfer 1.5 percent of their entire federal-aid highway construction funds (the National Highway System, Surface Transportation Program, and Interstate Maintenance funds are specifically liable for the reductions) to either alcohol-impaired driving countermeasures or for enforcement of anti-drunk driving laws.
Section 1406 requires each state to enact a law that provides that an individual is liable for a range of severe penalties, including license suspension and vehicle impoundment, for example, as well as imprisonment, if that individual is convicted of a second or subsequent offense of driving while intoxicated or under the influence.

The earliest evidence I have seen of the numbering system is from a 1917 State Road map, listing old FL 1 though old FL 12.

Florida has a more efficient system of state highways today, but it lost something of the history and charm this old road network had.
