Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames
Originally, the Blue Flames were Billy Fury's backing band and Fame joined them in the summer of 1961.
At the end of that year Fury sacked them and they decided to see if they could "make it" on their own.
Of all the groups playing the London clubs at this time, Fame and his band were the most jazz-influenced.

Fame nor would we get a treat of the likes of his full band sound on his excellent live Cd's "Name Dropping" or "Walking Wounded" (both ace live recordings from Ronnie Scott's in London) or his other upbeat sounds courtesy of Three Line whip (a band that includes Fame's son's Tristan and James).
Fame upped the ante on the vocalese slant of the evening by adding, as he'd done in numerous spots on "Poet in New York" and throughout the evening, his own lyrics to the solos.
Fame's showmanship, sense of humor and keen sense of historical accuracy lead to several amusing stories and anecdotes in between songs with several nods to vocalese godfathers Jon Hendricks, Eddie Jefferson and Oscar Brown Jr.(the evening was punctuated by numerous Hendricks impersonations including Fame's "Clark Terry" yelps after solos by Malock and Hazeltine).

Georgie Fame - Biography and Recommendations
Fame and his band the Blue Flames first achieved real success as a live band, releasing the superb "Rhythm and Blues At The Flamingo" in 1964 - looking back it's difficult now to imagine just how influential this release was in popularising bluebeat, ska and particularly American R&B and jazz throughout the UK.
Fame has always been a sympathetic and intelligent accompanist; he has spent a considerable period of time over the last few years playing in Van Morrison's band but he has never stopped recording and playing as a leader in his own right.
Fame is now an elder statesman of the British music scene - he can and does play what he likes (check out the live albums recorded at Ronnie Scott's, "Walking Wounded" and "Name Droppin'" to hear a man clearly at the peak of his powers).

Through his subsequent career Georgie has provided quality keyboard support to many artists - notably Van Morrison, but also many others - and if this collection shows anything I think it shows that his contribution to music in that role is probably greater than his role as a front man.
And I'm sure even Georgie would not take the credit for inventing what is the true story of Bonnie and Clyde on which the film is based.
