  Guardian | Lord Geraint
In the Lords, as in the Commons, Howells was never over-anxious to speak, and kept to his main enthusiasms - notably the Welsh language, a parliament for Wales or the plight of Welsh hill farmers.
Howells used his popularity among his farmer neighbours to be elected to Cardiganshire county council in 1962, initially as an independent.
Howells was at his best in December 1991, when, as agriculture spokesman appointed by Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown, he fought proposals by EC agriculture commissioner Ray MacSharry that would have crippled sheep farmers in the less-favoured areas of Wales, Scotland, Northumberland and the Borders.

I knew Wyn around The Terry Yorath/Frankie Burrows era,and he said he was a big fan of Queens Park Rangers and used to watch them regurly around the period in the mid seventies when they finished second in the old First division.
It's become so predictable and Wyn's sniping at fellow fans and sycophancy towards anything offficial at the club is so predictable and pathetic.
NO Wyn the "moaners" have not been silenced (Swansea Sound Saturday) we are now rejoicing that our beloved Swans have been stregthend with two quality players.

His mother was the daughter of Dafydd Howells, known as Howells y Bardd.
His driving licence shows he was living in London with his sister Bess between 1938 and 1941/2, doing what I don't know, it was war time.
His health must have already deteriorated since in January 1945 there was a Medical Report by Howell Davies (DMRE Camb, MBBS, London) of Swansea; an X-ray of Dai's chest showed changes due to pneumoconiosis, the stated cause of his disability and he was advised to apply to the Board immediately.
