  Gerald Graham - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sir Gerald Graham, VC GCB GCMG (27 June 1831 - 17 December 1899) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He was 23 years old, and a Lieutenant in the Corps of Royal Engineers, British Army during the Crimean War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.
On 18 June 1855 in the Crimea, Lieutenant Graham, accompanied by a sapper (John Perie) showed determined gallantry at the head of a ladder party at the assault on the Redan at Sebastopol.

In 1869, he was promoted to colonel, and in 1877, he was made assistant-director of works for barracks at the War Office, a post he held until being promoted to major-general in the early 1880s, when he went to serve in Egypt and the Sudan (where he was a friend of Gordon's).
Graham was knighted and made a lieutenant-general for distinguished service in the field.

He was approximately 25 years old, and a Sapper in the Corps of Royal Engineers, British Army during the Crimean War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.
On 18 June 1855 at Sebastopol, Crimea, Sapper Perie showed conspicuous gallantry, with a lieutenant (Gerald Graham) in leading a ladder party at the assault on the Redan.
He also volunteered to go with the lieutenant to help bring in a wounded sailor lying in the open, even though he was himself suffering from a musket wound in the side.
