Keddy could beat the NDP and Liberal positions given that he actually understands what is going on on the software lumber issue as well (in the Maritime Noon debate, those parties sent people who simply didn't).
Gerald Keddy's position on same-sex marriage likely won't hurt him as this is not a major campaign issue, and if anything it will probably help him.
Gerald Keddy as been elected in the past three elections and the Liberal candidate is an unknown.

Keddy in hearings, the Committee questions the decision to include provincial riding boundaries as a criteria for drawing boundaries for federal electoral districts, particularly given that this criterion is not a formal requirement of the Electoral Boundaries Adjustment Act.
Keddy, and appreciates that SOUTH SHORE—ST. MARGARET'S is, geographically speaking, a large electoral district with a widely dispersed population.

Keddy and his friend the Minister of Fisheries have ignored this decision and the Minister has proceeded apace transferring boats and licences to natives without fear of admonishment by the Member from South Shore.
Why the Member from South Shore and his NDP and Liberal friends on the committee won't stand up for their constituents and call the Minister to account for his failure to respond to my legitimate requests is baffling.
Keddy is not about how many times he spoke in Parliament or in Fisheries Committee but about what he had to say when he did speak.

Perhaps because of the Christian Heritage presence the hotter issue - though, according to Keddy, not a voting issue - is that of candidates' stands on same sex marriage.
Keddy has taken much heat for his "free" vote on the Liberal legislation to affirm the rights of same sex partners, though he was also lauded for taking a difficult and principled stand.
Keddy is seen as the favorite in the race, but if the Hnatiuk can make enough of the issue of same-sex, he might siphon votes from the conservatives and we might see a Liberal or NDP MP.

While Gerald Keddy will probably win and is generally good MP, the bad budget for Nova Scotia could hurt him potentially, especially if between the Liberals and NDP one chooses a really strong candidate and the other a weak one.
Federally and provincially, the husband/wife team of Keddy and Streatch have done a lot of good work on the south shore of Nova Scotia.

The MPs agreed there was need to reform the current federal means of funding of post-secondary institutions by means of transfer payments to the provincial governments; that money needed to be targeted for education separately from health, and that the Romanow report would provide an opportunity to take action.
