Geraldine Cox (born 1945) is president and operator of the Sunrise Children's Village orphanage in the province of Kandal, in Cambodia.
Originally from Adelaide, Geraldine Cox was posted to Phnom Penh by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in 1970.
Cox is the author of the book Home is Where the Heart Is, an account of her life and the lives of some of the children she has cared for.

Cox, the Australian woman who runs the Sunrise Children’s Village orphanage on the outskirts of the Cambodian capital, doesn’t really know what became of Noodles, but she suspects he was probably sold for body parts.
Cox first became involved with the orphans of Cambodia in 1993, when she resigned from the Chase Manhattan Bank (for which she worked in Washington and Sydney for eight years) and returned to the country she first came to know on her foreign affairs posting.

One memorable and comical moment in the film took place during the meeting between Cox and Samdech Hun Sen. Although her loyalty remains with Prince Rannaridh, Cox must make efforts to befriend Hun Sen in order to save the orphanage from shutting down.
Geraldine is anything but shy about her past experiences.

I first decided to meet Geraldine after seeing her life featured in the documentary 'My Khmer Heart.' Now, besides this documentary receiving incredible international acclaim and receiving many awards, it's also even sparked interest in a Hollywood version of Geraldine's life.
The show was great, really interesting, showing Geraldine with the 50 or so children at her orphanage, as well as her reunion with her former love.
