 Gondulphus
Or, as he is commonly called "Gondulphus of Maastricht" because his predecessor, Bishop Monulphus, transferred the seat of the bishopric from Tongres to Maastricht, which thenceforth was the actual residence of the bishops of Tongres.
In any case he was buried in the nave of the church of Saint-Servais at Maastricht, which had been magnificently restored by his predecessor, St. Monulphus.
An epitaph commemorating this event was afterwards misinterpreted, and gave rise to a legend according to which the two saints arose from their tomb in 1039 in order to assist at the dedication of the church of Aachen (Aix-la-Chapelle), and at the conclusion of the ceremony returned to their tomb to resume their eternal sleep.

European Disability Forum: Guide to the Amsterdam Treaty
At the Maastricht intergovernmental conference, it was proposed that the Treaty be amended so as to give the Community greater powers in the field of social policy.
It is for this reason that the social provisions agreed at Maastricht did not become part of the main body of the Treaty but remained incorporated as a protocol and an annexed agreement which applied to all Member States except the UK.
The Maastricht Agreement on Social Policy, which will be incorporated in the main body of the Treaty by virtue of the Amsterdam text, already gives a significant role to the social partners (European level representatives of workers and employers).

Maastricht is a beautiful town, ancient and neat, infamous throughout Europe for the unity treaty that bears its name, but we're here for another reason - the coffee shops!
So Gerard the Walloon and his Flemish girlfriend Esther insist, demand, we should leave - that we must leave at half-time regardless of the score because we cannot take the chance of being caught on this side of the border, speaking French, in a car with Belgian plates, should Belgium win!
When we get back to Liege, we run into the house, smoke a big, fat tobacco/weed/hash joint, watch Belgium beat Holland 1-0, and go out for draughts as the locals go through another round of their flag-waving, falling out of cars, screaming drunk, soccer celebration routine again.
