 Camp Edwards Army National Guard Training Site
The East Coast Processing Center was established in October 1943 and represents the first such facility on the East Coast of the U.S. The Center housed men who had gone AWOL at the time their units were shipped overseas - most men stayed for a month before being shipped out to Europe or the Pacific.
German prisoners also assisted in salvaging millions of board feet of lumber after the Otis vicinity was devastated by a hurricane in September 1944.
Deactivated in 1946 and moved to caretaker status by the Army, the MMR was used primarily for training activities by the Army National Guard and Air National Guard.

A U.S. Coast Guard commander said Sunday that a warning and news release issued by the Puget Sound, Washington, Coast Guard unit was "a little too aggressive" and had been misinterpreted to be limited to the waters of Puget Sound, when in fact it was part of the national new threat alert issued Friday night.
Coast Guard Cmdr. Jim McPherson said he could not say what agency had initially issued the warning, nor could he discuss specifics of possible targets.
Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard's 13th District issued a warning of a "credible" terrorist maritime threat from swimmers and divers in Washington's Puget Sound area.

The coast guard of Germany (German: Koordinierungsverbund Küstenwache) is an association of a number of federal agencies.
It is not a single entity, like the coast guards of other countries, for instance the United States Coast Guard.
The ships are all marked with the letting "Küstenwache" as well as a fl-red-gold signet on the hull and the coast guard's coat-of-arms; however, the hull colour differs from agency to agency: blue for the Bundespolizei, green for the Wasserzoll and fl for the WSV.
